Introduction:
Welcome to our CMS Funeral Fund!
With Allah SWT’s blessings, CMS has taken the important and vital step of offering comprehensive bereavement support to the whole Muslim community within the Chelmsford City Council area. It will be open to everyone, irrespective of economic status.
The reason is simple: we want to ensure as a community that we provide all the support we can to bereaved families, to be there for them at their greatest hour of need, so that they are not burdened any more than they have to be during their time of grief and loss.
In short, it’s not about who can afford funeral costs or not – it’s about us offering a helping hand and taking some of the burdens off bereaved families even when money is not an issue.
To provide bereavement services effectively, CMS will establish a Community Bereavement Fund, where we will request everyone to contribute.
The following will comprise of CMS’s bereavement service:
1) A single call to a dedicated number to initiate the package of services, including:
2) Outlining the complete process for families to follow in order to receive the required death and certificates for burial – and actively assisting in this when and where required
3) Pickup of the deceased from the hospital or residence:
4) Providing the burial shroud (kafan) if required
5) Bathing and preparing the deceased for burial
6) Transportation to the cemetery
7) The complete cost of burial to the level charged by Chelmsford City Council – including a grave, which includes wood for the grave and internment (grave digging).
- A) CMS to arrange burials at any cemetery if any additional costs can be covered to be discussed at AGM*
8) Food and eating facility up to a maximum cost of £500
9) Religious and counseling advice and support when and where needed
